The Current Role of Perforator Flaps in OMS-Head & Neck Reconstruction and Its Future Challenges

stable blood supply, and the flap is easy to survive and has little damage to the donor site. The emergence and clinical application of perforating flaps effectively reduces the damage to the donor area in flap grafting and improves the flexibility and arbitrariness of flap design. However, the technical requirements for the operator to separate the flap are also higher. In this talk, I will introduce the history of perforating flaps, their application in reconstructive head and neck surgery, and the future trends and challenges of perforating flaps development. I hope that by sharing the experience that Shanghai 9th people’s hospital has accumulated in this regard, all oral and maxillofacial surgeon fellows can better complete reconstructive surgery when dealing with patients with oral and maxillofacial head and neck tumor defects.
